I agree BRule.... I still not convinced that Glavine is not just using us to drive up the 2 year deal he'd get from the Mets. Given the market this offseason, Hudson's salary is a steal. No need in trading him in hopes that Glavine will replace both innings and productivity. I also think Hudson has continually had problems with that hip and tries to pitch through it. Big case for me would to have both Hudson and Glavine, but if given the choice I'll take Hudson. |

I KNOW that this deal makes NO sense given our payroll, but fer cryin out loud....Glavin won us a championship. He DESERVES the chance to win #300 in the uni that brung him to the Show.
I'm sorry, but I'm going with the only nostalgic bone I have in my body. Seeing Tommy G win #300 in a Mutts uni would chafe my ass more than missing the playoffs next year. YES I SAID THAT. Don't ask me to defend that statement logically...I just can't. This is just a touchy feely piece o crap.

I wish Glavine would have never left, but I really don't like the way he did leave, so now he can just stay gone as far as I'm concerned. I'm not a big fan of unions in the first place, so I'm not real high on the reasons he left.

OK, I'm repeating something I said at another board
Maybe Omar and Glavine's "agreement" on both declining options was based on Glavine making a decision in a timely manner that would benefit the Mets. They would either get him back or get 2 picks from the Braves. So if that thought process was in place and it comes to the arbitration deadline, my guess is that the Mets do offer him arbitration. With the market the way it is, they'd come to a "market value" contract before ever seeing arbitration. |

With Glavine we can be pretty sure of what we get- a good to very good pitcher in the first half of the season and a mediocre to fairly decent one in the second half. All that said, I would be saddened immensely to see Tommy get #300 in any other uniform. |

Clifton told the NY Times, "he’s going to make a decision, I would think, by tomorrow".

Yeah and ego man has his "premium content" showing up on the Mutts site for anyone interested in his rampant drool.
But essentially it says JS and Tommy have comes to a side agreement, Huddy and Giles are probably gone by early next week if not before. I love it when someone cut and pastes from that jerk's so called pocket change site. Hope it continues. |
