Infante can at least 1.Play SS (orr couldnt) and 2.can hit a litle.

Dont care much for the trade personally but dont sell it short.

I'll give you the SS point, but Infante is really not that much better as a hitter than Orr.

Orr's career line: .263/.292/.339/.631
Infante's career line: .253/.298/.386/.684

About the same average, about the same OBP, slightly better slugging, but still well below average.

Even more to the point, I'd rather have Villareal, Ascanio, and any one of the dozens of cheap options out there better than Orr or Infante than Anderson, Ohman, and Infante.
We turned an average reliever and a guy with the potential to be an average reliever soon into a below average reliever who can't get along with anyone, a well below average outfielder who can run fast, and a well below average middle infielder.

On the bright side, we designated Willie for assignment.

MLB.com and ESPN are both reporting that the Tigers and Marlins are on the verge of a deal that would send Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis to Detroit.
The Marlins would get Cameron Maybin, Andrew Miller and four more players. We're guessing Miller would slot right into their rotation, and he should improve upon what Willis did last season. Maybin could really use one more year in the minors, but the Marlins have a huge hole in center field and could let him fill it immediately. There's no word who else is included in the deal, but possibilities are RHP Dallas Trahern, RHP Eulogio De La Cruz, 1B Jeff Larish, 2B Scott Sizemore and INF Michael Hollimon. Hollimon, if picked up, would be an immediate infield option. The Marlins could use him at second and move Dan Uggla to third.

per RottenWorld, oh wait, RotoWorld

Also:

The Braves are showing interest in Damian Miller as a right-handed caddy for Brian McCann.
Atlanta would probably go with Clint Sammons over Brayan Pena as their backup if the season started today. Miller, who is also being looked at by the Nationals, could get more playing time elsewhere.

This makes no sense to me.....

Anything that keeps Pena from catching, even as a backup, in Atlanta is A-OK with me.

Brian Cashman, Yanks balk at millions and Phil Hughes for Johan Santana

The Yankee GM, who is staking his job on his young-gun pitchers, has walked away from a 4-for-1 trade of players the Twins were agreeable to for Johan Santana at the winter meetings that included Hughes, but not Ian Kennedy (as Minnesota initially requested) or any of the Bombers' other top prospects. By doing so, Cashman has apparently handed one of the best young pitchers in baseball to the Red Sox for a parcel of prospects that is also likely to be a far cry from the Twins' original asking price for their premier lefthander.

...and the BooSox get yet stronger...

Not necessarily. With the BoSox pulling all the good players out of the deal and leaving the chaff, the Twins are on their knees trying to get the Angels, Dodgers, and Mets back into talks. They seriously overplayed their hand, and now they can't get anyone to give them anything for baseball's best pitcher, in a time when everyone in baseball needs pitching. That's just unreal.

true, Snow, but the subtraction of Santana from the Yankees staff automatically makes the BooSox better by default. (head to head)

Of course, never say never - considering what happened with ARod, I don't completely rule out the Yanks. Didn't we fare pretty well against Santana in interleague play - I don't remember ?

He's 0-1 with a 3.09 ERA in 2 career starts against us, allowing 12 hits and 6 walks in 11 2/3 innings while striking out 17.

*snicker*

I really want to know who makes up the stuff on MLBTradeRumors. It's really impressive.

Three-way-deal.

Mets get:
Johan Santana from the Twins.
Bobby Crosby and Dan Johnson from the A's.

Twins get:
Dan Haren from the A's.
Hector Pellot from the Mets.

A's get:
Jose Reyes and Kevin Mulvey from the Mets.

murph would be proud, I tell ya.

I think I smell a James for DeJesus swap coming on soon....and I hope I am wrong. Hold onto Chuckie! Even if we ultimately trade a SP, he'd be far more valuable at the trade deadline.

www.kansascity.com | 12/04/2007 | Royals get their man: Agreement reached with Guillen for $36 million over three years

The signing creates roster flexibility because it leaves the Royals with a glut of outfielders. Guillen can play left or right field, which could allow the Royals to shift Mark Teahen to first base.

Club officials must decide what to do with outfielder Emil Brown, who led the club in RBIs in each of the last three seasons. Brown is eligible for arbitration after making $3.45 million in 2007.

The Royals are also now better positioned to field trade offers, if they choose, for David DeJesus and Joey Gathright. DeJesus had drawn heavy interest from several clubs, including Texas and Atlanta.

Club officials have not ruled out the possibility of signing Jones, too, ...
