Default Ducks do NOT match - Penner to Oilers

Bye bye Dustin:

TSN : NHL - Canada's Sports Leader

Quote:
The Anaheim Ducks have decided not to match the Edmonton Oilers' five-year, $21.25 million offer sheet for winger Dustin Penner. As a result, Penner becomes property of the Oilers while the Ducks receive the Oilers' first, second and third round picks as compensation.

Red face

Burkie should have signed him faster. Teach him to do better. Any moron would have realized that Penner had generated interest in the last couple of years. while the amount is a bit steep, if Lowe really wanted him, he knew he had to make it a number the Ducks couldn't match if they wanted to.
Oilers still may have won the lottery here......I guess we sill see.

From what I hear, the Ducks had a deal with Penner, but there were "scheduling conflicts" when they tried to get him in for a physical. By the time he was available, he had an offer from Lowe.

That is not what I've read. Burkie was just playing hard ball with Dustin's agent and so it was dragging on. Where did you hear about the physical slant on the mess? I'm all into this story...
