Default Scott Niedermayer considering retirement

Quote:
Scott Niedermayer is considering retiring from hockey according to Canadian Press.

The 2007 Conn Smythe Trophy winner has thought about retiring according to Ducks GM Brian Burke. ''Scott has indicated that he's thinking about retirement,'' Burke told The Canadian Press on Tuesday. ''''When I was playing with him, he never seemed, in my opinion, like he was planning on playing that long, or as long as I did,'' former teammate Scott Stevens said to Canadian Press. ''I kept saying to him, `You'll have no trouble surpassing my amount of games and this and that.' And he'd say, `Oh no, you won't see me doing that.' But there's no question the guy can play as long as he wants.'' Niedermayer is only 33, but he has won four Stanley Cups including the one this month with brother Rob. Stay tuned.

He still has it though, his stats back it up. Last season was truely a big season for him winning the Stanley Cup with his brother. Maybe it would be a good time to walk away, but he still has a lot to offer.

Thoughts?

I didn't know he was only 33, his play-off beard tricked me!
I hate it when players retire before they should and I also hate the players for it. If you still have great skill and retire at a MUCH younger age then most then you don't have as much love for the game as one would expect.
