well, it is true - a dh contributes nothing defensively. relatively speaking, position players add more value defensively than a dh. the question is whether that's offset by superior offensive production from the dh (or is the contributions of the fielder actually hurting his team overall). clearly a dh CAN win the award. they've come close enough in the past.
