Go back to the old school style. 2 conferences and 4 divisions, all named after people who have built this game. Re-birth 2 franchises (Hartford and Winnipeg) to even up the divisions to 8 teams each and then go back to the old way of doing the playoffs. Top 4 teams in each division play each other in the first and second rounds (1 vs. 4; 2 vs. 3; then the winners of each play each other for the division title) then the 2 division winners in each conference play for their respective conference titles, and then the 2 conference champs play for the cup. All series stay at best of 7 with continuous sudden death OT to decide all ties, and while we're at it with the old school way of hockey, drop the shootout and if you lose a game in OT you get no points, a loss is a loss.
