Well, despite all the glee--
--from those who, for whatever reason, think that Brett isn't the best QB that the Packers have...here's the statement from the Packers.com site:
"I was frustrated a couple weeks back when Randy Moss was traded to New England. I never wanted to be traded and I don't want to be traded. I want to be in Green Bay. I want to finish my career as a Packer. Sometimes when I get frustrated I let my emotions get the better of me.
As I said in February when I announced that I was coming back, I am excited about the young talent on our team and the improvements we're going to see from one year to the next. I really enjoy the young guys I'm playing with. I'm working hard down in Mississippi right now, rehabbing, and I plan to be in the best shape of my life.
I look forward to playing with this team and seeing what we can do. I think we can be pretty good"
Now I don't have any problem with the fact that the overrated, overpaid cancer moss did NOT wind up in Green Bay--I'm wondering if Favre's frustration might not be moss-specific, but more a generalized unhappiness with the dismantling of the offense of the Packers..with moss being the focus right now, but only because he represents one of the few professional-grade offensive weapons left available......
Realistically-the Packers have TWO proven threats on offense, apart from Favre, on the roster currently...Donald Driiver, an aging overachiever whose heart is far larger than his ability but is a warrior in every sense of the word: and Bubba Franks who's ability has been neutralized by the dismantling of the OL, requiring him to stay in and block on almost EVERY play.... Other than that?? Jennings-potentially a very good WR, IF (and it's apparently a BIG if) he can stay healthy and on the field, then...nothing special. ANY WR with professinal experience and some history of even limited success would be an improvement over the no-name wanna-be's wearing the 80's numbers.....
Ahamn Green and Wm Henderson are gone-leaving Venond Morency (career backup), Noah Herron (see Vernond's note)and a bunch of unknowns as well as a rookie with two bad shoulders...the one TE who couldn't block so he
DID wind up in patterns David Martin is gone....just who IS left?? While it would be nice to say the rooks will step up and fill those roles, it may well be too much to ask of guys with third and fourth round talent to become not only starters but high-quality starters in their rookie year.....
While Im not is the "The Packers owe Brett..." camp, I would think that tt needs to see that he IS the best QB the Pack has available and he's not going to be there much longer...that maybe spending a 1st round choice on one of the more secure positions on the roster might not have been the most wise, and the fact that according to him the "...organization is committed to winning. Ane we want to win NOW"
What exactly happens in 2-3 years when all of the rookie of ted's contracts start to expire?? Especially if they would all pan out?? How many would be shown the door (to the cheer of the "we can't spend too much money" fans), when they try to get what the market is bearing right then? How long will Packers' fans be willing to see this pathetic excuse for a team that gets shut out at home TWICE in one season go through this aimless floundering while one of the better QB's in the NFL is wasted for the last year or two of his career??? When will tt become accountable to ANYONE for the damage he's done, and the schism he has been responsible for among Packers' fans??
