I love this deal! Randy Moss is the best wide receiver in the NFL. I heard him being interviewed by the media today and he said all the right things about wanting to fit into New England's system and put the past behind him. He sounded genuine and I trust that Belichick wouldn't acquire a headcase unless he was confident that he could keep him under control.

Players with checkered pasts have a tendency to right the ship when they arrive to New England. Corey Dillon arrived as a problem child and left as a model citizen who won Belichick's training camp award for hardest working player. If someone like Dillon can make that kind of turnaround, why not Randy Moss? I believe Moss when he says he wants to win a Super Bowl Championship. He's obviously not about the money when he's willing to negotiate his $9 million salary down to $3 million. He clearly wanted to join the Patriots.

We've now gone from one of the worst receiving corps in the league to one of the best with the additions of Moss, Stallworth and Welker. The Patriots also signed Adalius Thomas, and should have a healthier defense next year. My only concern at the moment would be at running back where we've lost Dillon and have an injured Maroney. Can Kevin Faulk play well enough to stay on the field? Are there any free agent runningbacks available whom we should look at as possible low-cost pickups to pair up with Maroney?

I'd also love to see Troy Brown come back for one last hurrah. He's my favorite Patriot. He's a good guy who involves himself in charitable efforts in the Boston community. He's a versatile football player who can play offense or defense. He's a reliable plugger who has managed to put together a very respectable NFL career for a guy who was drafted in the 8th round (which no longer even exists.)

Getting back to Moss, he's a pleasure to watch and he'll make Brady's life a lot easier with the spectacular catches he'll be able to make downfield. And if teams give him double coverage, we'll beat them with Stallworth. Giving up the 4th round draft pick is well worth it in my view. There's no way we would have found a comparable receiver in the fourth round. Moss is as good as it gets when he shows up to play, and I'm confident he'll want to prove himself.
