The New Jersey Nets have agreed to a lease extension that commits the basketball team to playing at Continental Arena at least through mid-2009. The new deal also appears to preclude the outside possibility of the Nets relocating to Newark before 2013, unless the franchise is willing to pay a multimillion-dollar penalty.
The agreement, which was announced Monday, does not change the Nets' plan to move to Brooklyn in the fall of 2009, said Brett Yormark, the Nets' chief executive officer.
"We're going to be in Brooklyn, but while we are in New Jersey, our home is Continental Arena," Yormark said. "There is no gray area there."

I think the Nets move to Brooklyn is pretty much official. They will be playing in a new stadium called Barclays Arena. However, the move may 1st happen in 2010.
New Jersey fans were not loyal enough to the Nets over the years...they didn't even support them much when they want 50 plus games and made the playoffs.
