Yeah - I heard it put as "serious negotiations" as well...just couldn't remember the phrase.

I think Piazza has a couple of good years left in the tank, especially in the American league. You get a top notch DH and a backup catcher in one person which could free up a roster spot. He's still a threat at the plate, and not having to have him catch makes him more of a positive to the team.

I hope you guys get him. Of course, being a Mets fan, I just don't want him going to the Phillies (who also expressed interest).
