He didn't dominate the HR race?

Ken Griffey Statistics - Baseball-Reference.com
In 1995 he played in only 72 games and still finished 4th in the MVP with 17 HR.
Without Griffey I wouldn't be a baseball fan, maybe not even a sports fan. He was good to me in 1994 when I shagged some flyballs before joining the service. He entertained me in 1995 while I watched an improbable run from afar. And he was again good to me in 1999 when I was one of the few from KJR with whom he would talk. He looked exactly the same in those five years. Five years when I saw him as close-up as anyone not on the team could.
Ken caught the injury bug due to a combination of a poor work ethic, Astroturf and maybe even a little bit of Karma.
I miss the Kid.

I'm sorry I left for a while. I needed a vaction, and then work changed substantially. I'm over 50 hour weeks, plus two hours a day of commuting time.
A few weeks ago I launched my own
blog about Seattle Sounders FC and Life in Puget Sound. I won't be by these parts often as my focus has changed. Sorry about the unannounced retirement.
