ImpactPlaya is on a distinguished road
Default Savage needs to do better, period.

I think this off season is make or break for Phil Savage. He needs to hit not 2,not 3,but a handful of "homeruns" in the draft and free agency.
IMO,he hasn't lived up to expectations.
For someone who was considered a "genuis" when it came to judging college talent,it was left in Baltimore.
His 2005 Draft has been poor. To start a road of prosperity,it had to begin there.

Braylon Edwards. Million dollar talent,10 cent professionalism and approach to the game. He's been a bust..but thats common with WR's taken in the Top 10. Savage should have traded out of that pick. He could have taken current Pro Bowl tackle Jamal Brown.

Brodney Pool. hasn't lived up to expectations. A weak tacklers and is out of position.Josh Bullocks has turned out to be the better saftey.

Charlie Frye. He's one reason why 2005 was a weak class for qbs.The only one to show promise is Alex Smith. I think the only reason Savage took him was because he was in his backyard. It was a "feel good" pick.
So far Frye has no shown anyone that can get to the next level. His TD to INT ratio is poor. He lacks a feel for defenses.
Charlie Frye could not start for any other NFL team. Horrible pick by Savage.

Antonio Perkins. Total bust. You can get punt returners off the street. I thought Savage could judge college talent? Savage could have taken Brandon Jacobs.

David McMillian..only shows up in the preseason. You can find starters in the 5th RD..ask the Eagles.

So the 2005 Draft Savage has produced a malcontent WR,a dime a dozen saftey and a qb that does nothing really well except scramble.Oh yeah no o-lineman in the top 3 picks....great job addressing weaknesses Phil

the 2006 Draft looks a little better.
Kamerion Wimbley is going to get better. But he needs to develop some more pass rush moves. He has character and a willingness to develop. Pay attention Edwards.

D'Qwell Jackson. Showed promised late in the season with some high tackle games.Needs to improve in pass coverage.A wait and see guy.
But Savage could have drafted Marcus McNeil who was in the Pro Bowl.

Travis Wilson. A 3rd RD pick who couldn't beat out Dennis Northcutt or Josh Cribbs for playing time.

Leon Williams. Yawn.
Issac Sowells. Only time he got on the field was for warmups if was active.

Lawarence Vickers. He might be a diamond in the rough..showed he is nimble.More RB than FB.Wasn't used enough.

Jerome Harrison....The new Ben Gay. He won't last long if he can't pass block.

Justin Hamilton. For all intents and purposes,he might push Brodney Pool for a job. Good special teamer.

DeMario Minter...here for a cup o' coffee.

Kinda funny how 2 Savages better pick ups weren't drafted at all.Simon Fraser and Josh Cribbs were try outs and they produced.

Free agency wise Savage has failed big time.Joe Andruzzi and Cosey Coleman have not pushed d-lines around. Andruzzi was damaged goods when he got here.Kevin Shaffer was overpaid and over matched by faster DE's.
Ted Washington equals bust in every sense.
Willie McGinest didn't panned out as aging LB's almost never do in new surroundings.
Joe Jurivicous has provided what leadership the Browns have.
Savage should have brought in a vet QB to tutor Charlie Frye and provide leadership.

so far I grade Savage a C- in his 2 years.
