K-25 FEDERAL CREDIT UNION PRESENTS CUBS CAP TRADE-IN

The Tennessee Smokies begin the 2007 season on Wednesday April 11th at 7:15 pm against the Huntsville Stars. The 2007 season marks the first year of the Smokies affiliation with the Chicago Cubs. To commemorate the Cubs coming to East Tennessee, K-25 Federal Credit Union and the Smokies are joining forces to convert East Tennesseeans to Cubs fans. Beginning on April 11th, fans will have the opportunity to trade in any MLB hat at Smokies Park for a brand new Cubs hat courtesy of K-25. There will be 1,000 Cubs hats available for this unique trade-in. K-25 is sponsoring this event throughout the entire Smokies opening home stand until the hats are gone. Limit one hat per customer.

SMOKIES BASEBALL: LUNCH AND LISTACH

The Tennessee Smokies introduced new Manager Pat Listach Wednesday to a throng of fans at the team’s “Manager Luncheon.” Season-ticket holders, local team sponsors and media attending the event at Smokies Park were treated to a lunch buffet at the stadium’s Double Play Cafe, followed by dessert and door prizes. The festivities concluded with the introduction of Listach, and a Q&A session for a standing-room only crowd with the team’s new skipper.

“We were very pleased about the guests’ reaction to Pat and our new affiliation with the Chicago Cubs,” commented General Manager Brian Cox. “There was a lot of anticipation in the room for Opening Night on April 11. It was great to start talking baseball in East Tennessee with our fans and partners in February.”

The afternoon’s main attraction did not disappoint either. Listach, a former American League Rookie of the Year with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1992, provided much detail to the crowd about his coaching style and philosophy, and predictions for the upcoming season. His seven-year affiliation with the Cubs, either as a coach or manager, offered Smokies fans in attendance a closer look into the Cubs total commitment to player development with its minor league affiliates.

Following the luncheon, guests rushed over to the Smokies Clubhouse to take advantage of 30 percent discounts on team merchandise. “They immediately flocked over here after the luncheon finished.” Merchandise Manager Mark French stated.
