Monfort. Rockies CEO,
has confirmed that the team is thinking about dealing Todd Helton.
They are doing this because Helton is owed 90M$ over five more seasons. They are attempting to both shed his contract while maintaining the team. Helton has a no-trade clause, and the organization's primary concern is the financial aspect of the deal. Recall that on average a team sending a 10M$ pr year contract out takes 50% or so of dollars back in other contracts or cash, or both.
Rockies fans don't think they have a firstbaseman at this time.
So the questions that arrise are
1-If Helton can be dealt, why can't Sexson?
2-If the Rockies need a first baseman, don't we have at least two?
3-Should the Mariners go after Helton to send Sexson to the RedSox?
4-Have I been drinking again?
