If you walk into a comedy club and you know nothing about the personal lives of any of the standup comics, how do you determine which ones are funny and which ones are not? If you go into an art gallery and you know nothing about the personal lives of the painters, how do you determine which ones are good? If you read a book and know nothing about the personal life of the author, how do you decide if you like it or not? Should school children be prohibited from reading "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" or even seeing the movie, until we are sure that B. Traven was a person whose moral fiber meets your standards?
