Josh Kinney Headlines Caravan!
The Cardinals Caravan, featuring members of the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals, will make its annual trip to Springfield on Thursday, January 11th. The caravan offers fans a chance to interact with current and former Cardinals players, team announcers and staff, as well as Fredbird and Louie, the teams’ mascots.
Headlining the Springfield portion of the Cardinals Caravan will be former Springfield Cardinal Josh Kinney. A member of the 2005 inaugural team in Springfield, Kinney became the first Springfield Cardinal to don the uniform of the St. Louis Cardinals, making his debut on July 2nd at Atlanta. Kinney capped the year by appearing in six postseason contests without surrendering a run, helping the Cardinals win their first world title in 24 years.
Other Cardinals coming to town will be former Springfield Cardinals reliever Alan Benes, who spent part of the 2005 season working out of the Springfield bullpen. Pitchers Josh Hancock and Chris Narveson, Pitching Coach Dave Duncan and former Cardinal hurler Al Hrabosky will also be included as part of the caravan. Cardinal announcer Jay Randolph will serve as the emcee.
The event will again be held at the White River Room at Bass Pro Shops. Doors open at 7pm with the festivities set to begin at 7:15pm. Admission for the Cardinals Caravan is $5 for adults and $3 for kids (ages 3-12). Autographs are free for kids ages 12 and under. All proceeds will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network.
In addition to appearing at Bass Pro on Thursday evening, the caravan will also visit Cox South and St. John’s Hospital during the afternoon of the 11th. The caravan will stop by both hospitals, beginning at approximately 1pm to visit the pediatric ward and other areas.
**A reminder that the Cardinals Caravan was originally scheduled for January 15th, but due to the St. Louis Cardinals’ upcoming visit to the White House with President Bush, the event was rescheduled for January 11th. Thanks for your patience…and we hope to see you at Bass Pro on the 11th!
