I actually had to eat a hell of a lot of crow regarding this flick. Not a classic like the original, but I had a lot of fun seeing it.
I'd say its a toss-up between this one and Vengeance for second best in the franchise. Vengeance completely forgot how to be believable after the 'four gallons' riddle and had a hastily thrown together third act and conclusion. This one had weaker character drama, but the director kept the movie together and delivered some great action sequences (provided you ignore the F-35 scene.)
And personally, I did like it as kind of a 'f*** you' to 24. Some people (myself included) complained that the previews made it look like it was trying to be like 24. But upon seeing it, it seemed clear to me that the parralels were meant to be satirical, like how the first one made fun of the LAPD and FBI.
But of the two, Vengeance is the only one I'll ever sit through again.
