Every position player had at least 1 hit but we scored more on sac flies and a FC than by hits with RISP. I think we left about a thousand runners on base. Timely hits are not our forte. That's got to change. The hitting stars were GLAUS (YUP) and Izturis (REALLY). Each had 3 hits and Glaus had a double ( surprise-surprise). Ank had 2 wiith a double and Albert and Yadi each had 2 singles. Barton, Ludwick and Ryan each had a single.
Wellemeyer pitched his best game so far. It seem like he always comes through when the Cards are in trouble. He is now 4-1. He went 7 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits with 3 BBs and 5 Ks. The run that scored was an inherited runner that Flores actually gave up after 2 were out. Flores went 2/3 of an inning giving up 2 hits. Springer got Bay on a long fly out to deep left center to end the 8th. Izzy threw a lot of pitches but, if Gameday's graphics are any indication, his location looked better. He threw 15 pitches and got 3 FOs.
The Cubs and Cinc won and Milw lost. Houston is tied with SF at 3 in the 4th.
Lots of action in the minors. Check in with Coop for the results.
That's it for tonight. Tomorrow at 12:15 CST, it's Pineiro vs. Snell. Let's hope that Joel has turned the corner. Snell will be rough.
See ya later.
