The Yankees have serious holes in the rotation. Besides, Zito is only 29. He looks like a spring chicken compared to Mike Mussina and Andy Pettitte.
In 2003, the Braves took a chance on Mike Hampton, and he had a decent year that year. Zito is young than Hampton and more durable.
Zito seems salvageable
Of course, I am under the assumption that money is not an issue for the Yankees. Hell, the Giants would probably have to throw in a prospect just for another team to eat that contract!
