I'm a Baltimore fan, and I cannot really agree with that statement....
Baltimore has some good things on offense, but also some aging things and some bad things....
Tejada is not truly a cleanup hitter, but he is forced to be in Baltimore. Mora's days as a viable #2 hitter in the lineup are probably behind him. Markakis will probably have to move into the #2 hole. Gibbons will prove to be a disappointment yet again, and deservedly needs to be about a #7 hitter in this lineup. Hernandez is a first 1/2 player, who's numbers drop significantly when it comes to the 2nd 1/2. Payton will probably be in the every day lineup, but should at best be a bench player. He has done nothing outside of Colorado.... The lineup that would be optimal would be #1 Roberts, #3 Markakis, #3 Tejada, but the problem is that nothing else would fit in behind there....
As for the pitching. I am excited about 3 of the 5. IMHO Benson and Wright are scrap pile material. I think this staff has potential if Penn eventually joins the rotation, but we could also be set up for a severe disappointment.
I still see us as a 4th place finisher in the east.
