While Cairo is useless and Norton would have been more valuable on the bench, there are a lot bigger problems on this team than Miguel Cairo. The defensive lapses coming on top of the dreadful bullpen performance and invisible offensive production makes this season look like a disaster.
I didn't think that this was a legitimate playoff team until the injuries to Escobar and Lackey. Well, now we are 5 games back and Lackey still hasn't thrown a pitch.
I think the Bavasi death watch is going to start at the end of the next homestand if things don't change real fast. Bringing up Clement and Balantien sure hasn't done anything to motivate the other 23 guys, unless you want to count errors as production.
Meanwhile over in Baltimore, George Sherrill has 11 saves and the rebuilding Orioles are over .500.
