Mulder faced the same lineup at Tulsa last night that he faced last Sunday in Springfield.
He tries to establish the fastball the first time through the order;
then he begins working in the change and curve.
So, last night, like last Sunday, Tulsa hit the ball hard in the first;
then he settled in and threw the off-speed junk.
I think this is a rehab pattern. (At least I hope it's not the
pattern he intends to follow once he is promoted to StL. He'll
never make it through the 2nd inning.

)
His fastball last Sunday topped 92 (but that pitch was very high,
like he'd tried to add some zip and released early). Most of
his fastballs were in the 85-88, with a few hitting 89 and 90.
His mechanics and lower body looked so much better than
they looked when he tried to pitch for the Cards last summer. ugh.
