There is nothing wrong (and a lot right) with signing someone like Graves to a minor league contract to provide organizational depth and hope for a return to past performance.
It is when O'Dowd signs washed up veteran pitchers and gives them big league contracts and counts on them to fill positions on the big league roster that fans should cringe.
