News - Predators blow out and shut out Kings - Nashville Predators

The win improves Nashville's record to 24-9-3 and gives the Predators a four-point lead over Detroit in the Central Division standings. Nashville becomes one of only four teams in the NHL with 50 points or more in the league standings. Now the team gets two days off for the Christmas holiday after winning six of its last seven games.

"[The players] knew that this game they had to have," said Predators head coach Barry Trotz, "not only for the two points but I think just to respond in the right way and show everybody, 'Hey, that was a little uncharacteristic of us. We've got to respond against a team that's pretty desperate in Los Angeles.' "
