JP is the Great Divider. We could be agreeing on subjects with our sworn enemies ... everyone feeling good ... and then, someone invokes two famous initials. Example:

Poster1: I think the Jays should sign Player X. He says he wants to play for the Jays and will take very little money to do it. Plus, he's a great player.

Poster2: I agree that he's a great player. He hit 94 home runs last season, and had an OPS of 1.500. He'd be one of our better hitters, I think.

Poster1: Unfortunately, he's a catcher, so we'd have to get rid of Zaun.

Poster2: Agreed, but he's only looking for half the money Zaun is.

Poster1: Good point.

Poster2: Of course, it's not going to happen, because JP is an idiot.

I understand the flaws of my argument, and you are doing well to point them out. Maybe, we can be over-modded so that a conversation heading down this road would be cut off by a mod and be asked to steer back on-course or be locked.
