I had an Adirondack bat when I was a kid. Everybody who had a Louisville Slugger used mine. It was a Bobby Doerr model. The Adirondack was incredible. It felt like a magic wand in your hand. It was light and beautifully balanced and felt as flexible as a whip, and sounded a wonderful crack on the sweet spot. Years later I dug it out of my dad's basement and presented it to the kids on my little league team. They had orgasms when they hit the ball with it, and won an unprecedented two games in a row. Until someone broke it. For good. It was already broken, and was held grain-tight with two countersunk brass Phillips-head screws with electrical tape hiding the adulteration. It was made of white ash, in Dolgeville, New York. I also once had a 1958 Jaguar XK-120 sedan. It is a tossup which felt better---my Jag or my Adirondack.
