Stackhouse is an idiot for making his intentions so transparent, but I don't see how the league has any right to punish him for exercising his right to serve out the 30 days and then re-sign. What if the Suns, Lakers, Spurs, Celtics or Pistons called him up with an offer? Would he immediately reject all of them? I could definitely see a Western Conference team trying to disrupt things for Dallas by making Stackhouse a superior offer.

point is, they can't pre-negotiate these things. it skirts the rules in place. it makes a farce out of salary matching. why would the nets even do it unless it was a condition of the trade for dallas? the nets ARE in a playoff hunt.
and the mavs kept their mid-level exception. don't know how many other teams have cap space to match that.
