ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michigan has hired West Virginia's Rich Rodriguez as its next football coach, and high school quarterback Terrelle Pryor — the No. 1 recruit in the nation according to Rivals.com — was apparently one of the first to know.
"I am thrilled to have Rich Rodriguez as Michigan's new coach," athletic director Bill Martin wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press on Sunday. "Rich brings an exciting brand of football to Michigan Stadium. We welcome the entire Rodriguez family to Ann Arbor."
Rodriguez, whose No. 11 Mountaineers are preparing for their second Bowl Championship Series game in three seasons, will take over Michigan's program from Lloyd Carr.
Before news broke on the national wires, Pryor – a star quarterback at Jeanette (Pa.) High – told Rivals.com national recruiting analyst Mike Farrell that Rodriguez was heading to the Wolverines.

Pretty decent hire, Rodriguez built a very solid program at West Virginia although he chocked in the Pittsburgh game that would have gotten West Virginia in the national title game this season. You could tell Rodriguez wasn't content on staying at West Virginia because he was looking for job offers last season. Anyhow the man definetly has some recruiting power, and I would compare him on a similar level to Les Miles.
