Clearly you're either very young or very dumb. While Canada's economy is strong and the American economy is down at this time America's economy is not "dying."

I'm going to be drop-dead honest with you, if America were to go down Canada would go down as well. Canada is not considered a strong country and has the least influence in the world among the developed countries. I'm not trying to be rude and I really like western Canada, but honestly Canada is not and will not really have any power or influence in the world. Canada will always only be a supplemental country to the United States, The U.K. the EU, and some Asian countries led by Japan and South Korea.

In a global market the NHL would not survive with out the support of the fans of the United States even though that they might be a small percentage compared to the other amount of fans who watch the NFL, NBA, and MLB.
