Well, if you believe that, it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Or you can keep the torch lit. Remember the Expos. Keep the memory alive. What about an Expos Fan Club? DC had a Senators Fan Club when it was without baseball. Put out a newsletter. Discuss the Expos, the Montreal Royals, and otehr aspects of Montreal's distinguished baseball history. (What onetime big-league owner, non-Expos, was born in Montreal?)
Try having an Expos Fest. Invite Elliot Price, Stephanie Myles, and Mitch Melnyk and the other media. Bring in some former Expos to discuss Montreal baseball and sign autographs. Have vendors, displays, etc. Show highlights from the Expos' 36 years, from all special events tothe last game. Make it an annual event (preferably in the offseason.)
Call the radio programs and talk about Les Expos and about the future of baseball in Montreal.
Urge the civic officials to come up with a vaible stadium plan and talk to any team that is having stadium problems.
Use forums like this to keep the torch lit. Maybe you can get some of the old Expos posters to join. You'd hve a very vibrant and lively forum. Where are guys like Big Owe anyway?
If you hold onto the idea that there will never be baseball in Montreal again, you'll be right. If you work on promoting the return of baseball to Montreal, eventually, you'll be right about that too. Which sounds like a more desirable outcome to you?
