Since we have lost out on both pitchers we were trying to acquire and assuming we had enough money in the budget to sign both of them. Which direction should we go in.

1) Put that money towards signing Vernon Wells to a long term contract at the 18-20 Million a season he is likely to command.
2) Trade Wells for pitching help, perhaps to the White Sox for Brandon McCarthy and prospects.
3)Stil try to get some arms such as Suppan or Batista for hopefully a little less money.
4) Shift gears and instead of going for 2 mediocre starters, put all that money into one big time arm such as Barry Zito.
5) Turn attention back to Julio Lugo, assuming his deal with Boston is not 100% official.
6) Put some of that money into shoring up the bullpen with Gagne or Dotel to set up Ryan.
7) Stand pat with Jansenn and Marcum in the rotation and save the money for next year.
