Drew, thanks for reminding everyone. Just because I think the Rox are a longshot to make the playoffs doesn't mean I'm a pessimist. 32 games left, and 15-17 would guarantee them a winning season. I think it's very doable. I just think 21-11 or some such thing is needed to make the playoffs.
Iannetta may provide a nice boost. It's worth a try, and I'm glad O'Dowd gave him another chance right away.
Meanwhile, today we saw the predictable results of a smart acquistion (Dessens: consistently mediocre whenever he's been healthy, coming off an injury, foolishly dumped by the Brewers just as he was likely to be of some value to them, and acquired for literally nothing other than the prorated minimum) and a stupid acquisition (Ramon Ortiz, consistently awful for 3 full seasons even though he is apparently perfectly healthy, and he actually cost significant money and a middling prospect). I can't see why Denny Bautista wouldn't have been at least as good a gamble as Ortiz. In fact, I suspect Bautista will be taking his roster spot shortly.
