In a sidebar note for USA Today, Bob Nightengale writes the following…“The New York Mets might bow out of the bidding for pitcher Barry Zito, a high-ranking Mets official said, if they consummate a deal for Oakland Athletics pitcher Rich Harden.
“The Mets, the official said, are having talks about Harden for outfielder Lastings Milledge and a prospect.”

I would do a deal for Harden in a ny minute. He's young, fairly cheap, and best of all, a power pitching ace.
I'd be willing to send the A's Milledge and another top prospect (not Pelfry or Humber) or Heilman.
