Schmidt isn't done with his career. He may have lost his 97 MPH fastball (at least last year) since that injury, but if he can still learn to use his command and as long as his catchers know how to take care of his changeup, I really can't say that he'd ever not be worth less than $12 mil/year.

He should probably stay in the NL (wherever he may land); it's best that he doesn't have to take the time to re-learn a new array of hitters.
