I am a big Andy Pettitte fan and would love to see him back in The Bronx. He'd be a great addition to the Yankee rotation. Wang, Mussina, Pettitte, Johnson, and either Pavano, Proctor, Igawa, Rasner, or Karstens (assuming the Yankees don't acquire yet another starter) is a very solid rotation.
I'm one who thought Andy should never have left New York. Ironically, this time it was the Astros who didn't work hard enough or make a real offer to keep him, so he's back where he should have been all along.
Andy is still a solid pitcher. If he turns into the old Pettitte, great, but the Yankees don't need that. The Yankees need him to be a very solid third starter and that will most likely be what he'll do.
I've followed Andy's career since he was in A ball and I'm pleased to see him back in The Bronx.
Now the Yankees need to go get a good backup catcher and a good utility infielder.
