Interesting stats
I was checking out the 2007 Bill James Handbook I just picked up. I looked in the back at some of the league leaders and looked at the stat of Cheap Wins and Tough Losses. Jamie Moyer, Jarrod Washburn, and Felix Hernandez each tied for second in the Tough Loss category with 5 each. A tough loss is awarded when a SP loses a game with a game score of at least 50. A cheap win is the exact opposite, it's awarded when a pitcher had a game score under 50 and still won the game, our old friend Joe Blanton took 1st place in the AL in that category with 7.
Another interesting stat is that Felix Hernandez had the fastest average fastball in the AL with an average of 95.2 MPH. We also got two players on his Fielding Bible Defensive Awards, Adrian Beltre took 3rd base in a close race over Scott Rolen and Ichiro took a position in the OF. Also Soriano's name can be found all over the pitching stat categories, as was JJ Putz. Very interesting, we could be on the verge of something special.
