On Friday, an arbitrator awarded New York Islanders winger
Trent Hunter $1,550,000 for the 2007-08 season.
Hunter, 27, scored 20 goals and added 15 assists last season with the Islanders, while ranking second on the team with 246 hits.
Hunter was seeking $1.9-million in arbitration. He earned $1-million last season and the Islanders, who have plenty of room under the salary cap, have accepted the ruling.
"Letting Trent go was never a consideration for us," said Islanders general manager
Garth Snow. "He's an important piece to our team; that was never up for debate. We're glad he'll be in an Islanders uniform in September."
