Roger Clemens - Back in Black (pinstripes)
The unaging right-hander has made his choice. He is a Yankee once again. After last year’s partial season with Houston he again gets the same ability to try and compete for only two-thirds of the season. The Yankees fans at the Stadium got to see him announce on the DiamondVision screen as he promised to speak to them more in the future. A unique formal announcement to say the least. I wonder of the New York papers will even notice that the Yankees beat the Mariners today?
This gives the New York ballclub a solid staff when healthy of Clemens, Wang, Petitte, Mussina and likely Igawa late in the season. A staff that when healthy will have its work cut out trying to catch up to the Boston Red Sox with their early season dominance from the rotation and the bitter taste of betrayal.
