On the brink, on the verge
The first round of the NHL playoffs are in full swing and last night continued some tales. The Kid Sid led Penguins have been handcuffed again by the more experienced Ottawa Senators who have taken a 3-1 series lead. Meanwhile, the Atlanta Thrashers are on the cusp of elimination at the hands of the New York Rangers. The Rags go for the sweep tonight.
Roberto Luongo continues to state his case for the Hart Trophy (and perhaps the Conn Smythe) for the Vancouver Canucks as they have gone up 3-1 on the Dallas Stars. All the while, the Minnesota Wild and the Calgary Flames have staved off elimination by bouncing back with victories last night against the Ducks and the Red Wings respectively.
Tonight, Tampa Bay and New Jersey square off with the Lightning hoping to take a 3-1 series lead at home while the San Jose Sharks look to do the same against the Nashville Predators at the Shark Tank.
The second season is in full swing and just who hoists Lord Stanley’s Cup will be determined soon enough.
